Where does the money go?

The Stella Prize is a major literary award that celebrates Australian women's writing and an organisation that champions cultural change

The prize is named after one of Australia's iconic female authors, Stella Maria Sarah 'Miles' Franklin, and was awarded for the first time in 2013.

The Stella Prize exists to achieve equal representation for women's writing. Much more than just an annual award, Stella aims to spark debate, raise awareness and influence the national conversation; and to lobby for greater inclusion of women's writing in our education system. Our vision is of an Australia that truly values the stories of women, with tangible progress towards a richer, more inclusive national identity.
