The Twyford's new Theatre is an exciting new cultural venue in Market Street Merimbula on the beautiful Sapphire Coast of NSW.
The purpose-built raked theatre is located adjacent to the existing Twyford Hall with a seating capacity of 199, two dressing rooms, lighting/audio/AV control room, loading dock and lift-accessible Foyer, Box Office and licensed Cafe/Bar.
The project has the support of state and federal local members, the local shire council, theatre, music and dance groups, arts groups and community organisations.
In 2018, the NSW State Government announced a grant of 7.4 million from the Regional Communities Development Fund towards the cost of building the Theatre. These funds were released in February 2019 and building commenced in March 2020, however COVID and unforeseen costs for services connections increased the cost of the build. A further $2 million completion funding for the building from the NSW Government was announced in November 2022.
Additional funding for the project, upgrades to the heritage-listed 170 seat Hall as well as programming funds to stage events has come from Twyford Hall Inc, community fund raising through tax-deductible donations like yours, sponsorships and grants from state and federal government sources.
When you donate to this fund, you are supporting the ongoing operations of the venue and further enhancements to attract high quality events to Merimbula.
The Twyford Hall Complex Ltd is on the Register of Cultural Organisations (ROCO), is a registered Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) and a registered charitable arts organisation with the ACNC. All donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
You’ll receive public acknowledgment of your donation on the The Twyford's website, unless you choose to remain anonymous.
Donate $1,000 or more and your donation can be acknowledged by a small plaque with your name – or the name of someone you wish to honour – on a seat in the new theatre, unless you choose to donate anonymously.
