TYO's access initiatives include fees bursaries, Pathways programs and individual tuition scholarships. Together, these initiatives are designed to reduce barriers to musical participation and increase opportunities for more young Tasmanians to have access to sustained musical involvement, skills development and growth.

Social connectedness, wellbeing, improved educational outcomes, skills and leadership development, resilience… Many years of research tell us that musical involvement provides multiple and lifelong benefits to young people. We see these benefits in action every week at Tasmanian Youth Orchestras (TYO), where we offer instrumental and choral music education, development and performance programs to young Tasmanian musicians and singers aged seven to 25.

• TYO works with more than 200 young Tasmanian musicians and singers each year, connecting them to the joy of making music together.
• TYO was formed in 1965 as a single orchestra. TYO today has three orchestras, two chorales and specialist ensembles; and offers development opportunities for a wide range of participants – from those new to ensemble music, through to accomplished youth musicians who are already experienced performers.
