TYO Connections access initiatives include scholarships and bursaries for young musicians experiencing financial disadvantage; and also support for students in the north and north-west of Tasmania to play with TYO through a combination of travel support, an online rehearsal platform and supported collaborations.

Together, these initiatives are designed to reduce barriers to musical participation and increase opportunities for more young Tasmanians to have access to sustained musical involvement, skills development and growth.

• TYO works with more than 220 young Tasmanian musicians and singers each year, connecting them to the joy of making music together.
• TYO offers instrumental and choral music education, development and performance programs to young Tasmanian musicians and singers aged seven to 25. 
• Formed in 1965 as a single orchestra. TYO today has three orchestras, two chorales and specialist ensembles; and offers development opportunities for a wide range of participants – from those new to ensemble music, through to accomplished youth musicians who are already experienced performers.
