But for thousands of kids and their families, life has many challenges. 1 in 7 kids in NSW live in poverty, and of the 46,000 kids in NSW living with a disability, 1 in 5 don’t receive any NDIS support - the need is great and that’s why we need your support.
At Variety we’re passionate about giving kids who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs a fair go. Through grants, programs, scholarships and experiences, we provide practical help and support when families need it most.
How we help – Kids Support Framework
How we help – Grants
We grant a range of items to provide practical help for individuals and organisations in need. We grant medical & mobility supplies & equipment, technology, vehicle modifications, educational resources, feeds, nappies, wigs and Sunshine Coaches. We help kids communicate, increase their self-esteem and social skills, and get out and about to enjoy the freedom of being a kid.
How we help – Programs
We run programs to educate and empower kids. We deliver a range of great programs including our Activate Inclusion Sports Days, so all kids can try sport, our Just Like You disability anti-bullying program run through schools and Starting with Art to give the opportunity for every kid to learn and enjoy art.
How we help – Services
We offer a Rare Care Service to help families who have a child with a rare disease or condition by providing practical case management assistance. Our Case Managers link the family with relevant services, advocate on their behalf, ensure the family receives the correct benefits and can help find other support.
How we help – Scholarships
We give kids scholarships to celebrate their achievements and to provide support to help them reach their full potential and follow their dreams. The Variety Heart Scholarships support kids with an existing talent across the arts, sport and education.
How we help - Experiences
We bring joy and inclusion to kids and their families. We hold exciting events such as the Variety Kids Xmas Parties, musical picnics and story time. We also help create Variety Livvi’s Place inclusive playspaces, so all kids can enjoy playing side by side. These experiences allow kids and their families to have fun, meet new people and participate in new experiences.
