Victorian AIDS Council General Appeal

Victorian AIDS Council Other Causes...

Victorian AIDS Council has listed 1 other cause:
The Victorian AIDS Council (VAC) is leading our community in the fight against HIV and STIs. The charity works to confront the continuing challenges of the HIV epidemic and, increasingly, the overall health and wellbeing of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex (GLBTI) community.

VAC works to strengthen the independence, dignity, health and wellbeing of people living with HIV (PLHIV) and the LGBTI community; reduce the transmission of HIV and STIs; and enhance health outcomes for PLHIV. In particular, VAC is invested in bringing the AIDS epidemic to an end.

The epidemic

There are over 5,000 Victorians known to be living with HIV, so there is an ever growing demand for VAC's services. Victorians affected by HIV need our help, and we need your support.

How will the funds be used?

VAC provides a range of programs and services, to prevent the transmission of HIV in our community and to improve the lives of people living with HIV. Projects we undertake include:
  • HIV risk reduction education campaigns
  • Counselling services
  • A safe and comfortable space to access essential practical and emotional support services
  • Credible and up-to-date information on HIV
  • Specialist medical practitioners, who provide bulk bill testing and treatment
  • Emergency financial relief including food, clothing and furniture
  • In-home care and support
  • Therapeutic treatments and groups
VAC relies on the generosity of its supporters to continue a number of vital projects and activities, so every cent you donate helps make a difference.
