About this cause
Our Association is the parent body of 25 Volunteer Marine rescue Squadrons in Queensland, situated from the Gulf of Carpentaria and Torres Strait and down the east coast to the NSW border.

Our Association currently receives an annual grant from the Queensland State Government under the terms of a Service Agreement and has the responsibility to administer this funding strictly in accordance with an approved set of Funding Guidelines.

We do not enjoy any real flexibility with respect to discretionary expenditure and therefore must look to other sources to provide assistance to our Squadrons, especially those in remote, isolated, indigenous, and Torres Strait Island communities. Donations from the wider Australian community are necessary to enable the provision of extra funding to Squadrons, especially in remote areas whose ability to fundraise is almost non-existent.

How will the funds be used?

All funding will be directly applied to Squadrons on a needs basis to assist with service provision.

Key Areas of Expenditure

  • Training
  • Maintenance
  • Fuel costs
  • General operational and administration costs
