Accessible Beaches 

We are helping to make beaches more inclusive and accessible to everyone. Every weekend of the summer patrol season, accessible beach mats and beach friendly wheelchairs will be available at participating surf clubs, designed to assist people to reach the water’s edge. Beach matting and beach wheelchairs are provided through the City of Gold Coast Beach Access Program. 

VGC are seeking donations to continue the program. A team of dedicated volunteers will be on site each week to set up the mats and provide care and support, ensuring people have the best experience at the beach. VGC’s volunteers will be prepared with a range of different wheelchairs to use which allow different levels of access depending on individuals preference and circumstances.

Transport Services 

Transportation services on the Gold Coast for people over the age of 65, living with a disability or chronic illness. 

Travel anywhere on the Gold Coast with ease. Our Transport Service is a door-to-door service, taking people anywhere they need to go on the Gold Coast for a low, fixed rate. fare. Our team of volunteer drivers and carers support the needs of our clients to ensure they have a safe and comfortable journey. VGC are seeking donations to continue the program to ensure older people living on the Gold Coast can continue living a life of independence, and reduce the need to depend on family or friends. 

Shopping Clubs

The Volunteering Gold Coast Shopping Club is a regular service transporting clients to their local shopping centre on set days. Clients are collected from their homes and taken in safety and comfort on a 2-hour shopping trip. They are available to our over 65 clients who are registered with My Aged Care. VGC are seeking donations to continue the program to ensure older people living on the Gold Coast can continue living a life of independence, and reduce the need to depend on family or friends. 

Social Outings 

The Social Outings encourage older Australians to be active and social. They are a great way to meet new people, see new things and explore everything the Gold Coast has to offer. The calendar of social outings for seniors takes in the best of south east Queensland and northern NSW, with trips to art galleries, museums, restaurants, gardens and more. VGC are seeking donations to continue the social outings and to increase the amount of outings to ensure older people living on the Gold Coast can continue living a life of independence, and reduce the need to depend on family or friends.
