Our 8th annual VPH Christmas Season Appeal connects our giving community members with local organisations that support and shelter children, teens, young adult parents and mums fleeing domestic violence throughout the year, to ensure that they are not forgotten and can enjoy some festive holiday cheer at what is often a challenging time of year.
Of necessity, we are running a substantially smaller Appeal this year, given that our very successful 2024 Appeal - and the outpouring of generousity from our community - outgrew our capacity as volunteers to manage.
This year, we are again supporting our long-term and local partner organisations. All of them encounter more and more people who seek and need their shelter and support services. That ever-increasingly community need far outstrips their capacity and particularly at this time of year.
Nardine Wimmins Refuge is the second-oldest in Australia (by about a month). Nardine supports 3x more women and families in the community because their residential shelter is always at capacity - as are all of our WA family and domestic violence refuges.
Vic Park Youth Accommodation begain decades ago when locals purchased a property to help shelter a family with young adult parents. They now house young families and provide them with wrap-around support in almost 25 residential properties.
The Aunties from the Belmont Aboriginal Elders Group are an important hub of support for children, teens and young adults across their local community. They provide mentorship, grounding, cultural and practical support year-round but are not otherwise resourced to be able to also spread additional and sought-after support during the holiday season.
Umbrellas & Footprints Inc is the Vic-Park based volunteer community group that includes the VPH Christmas Season Appeal as well as Brollie Brigade mobile showers. We will again provide Christmas cheer to local families that we assist throughout the year, including gifts, gift card, dry hampers and grocery cards.

We meet and provide our services on the land of the Whadjuk People of the Noongar Nation and extend our respect to elders past, present and emerging.
