In 1995, Vulcana began as a place for women to learn and practice circus skills together. In 2026, we're the oldest arts organisation for women + trans people in Queensland. And, so much more.
We provide spaces, we teach classes, we support artists, we put on shows, and we provide vital community support to vulnerable populations including refugees, the elderly, Indigenous peoples, domestic violence survivors, the Deaf and Disabled, young people in detention, and more.
In today's world, Vulcana's diverse, inclusive, play-led, and community-driven approach to art-making has never been more essential or under greater threat. As supportive play-spaces for children and adults become rarer and trauma more widespread, the Vulcana Arts Hub has become a crucial community space for so many to work, heal, grow, and learn.
By becoming a regular donor to Vulcana, you can lend strength and resilience to our funding from Creative Australia and the Queensland Government. In an unpredictable world, expenses spring up, evolve, and transform overnight and we can often end up struggling to support the many part-time workers, freelance trainers, and volunteers that have kept our community alive.
A small, regular donation can make all the difference. It can help us run more classes for vulnerable people. It can help us keep our equipment, venue, and classes safe. Most of all, it brings greater light and life to the dream of an inclusive creative space for marginalised people.
It extends Vulcana from a dream of 1995 and an organisation of 2026 into an arts hub for the future.
