Recently, we launced an exciting and challenging initiative - the Wallara Person Centred Community Living Project.
This Project will enable people who currently live at Cussen House, a 21 bed congregate care hostel, to move into more appropriate living arrangements in the community. Importantly, it will give them greater choice about who they live with and a more meaningful role in running their own homes - with appropriate support and guidance from trained staff.
To complete this substantial Project, Wallara needs to raise significant capital. Stage 1 - comprising the purchase, construction and outfitting of two properties - requires us to raise or borrow commercially $300,000 to match the $650,000 commitment of our Project Partner, the Affordable Housing Association (funded by the Department of Housing). In today's environment, this is a significant finanical constraint on Wallara.
