Warrigunya: Strong Culture, Strong Futures

About this cause

Warrigunya is an Aboriginal-led not-for-profit in Gippsland, creating housing, healing, and hope for Aboriginal men returning to community after prison.

From the start, Warrigunya has been guided by Aboriginal voices. Men at Fulham Correctional Centre helped choose the name and design of the facility, ensuring the project reflects their needs and aspirations.

On 20 acres of Country at Darriman, Warrigunya will provide safe housing for 3–12 months, alongside self-determined support plans that help men set and achieve their goals. Here, participants can:

  • Access culturally grounded programs to build resilience and skills.
  • Heal through art and connection to Country.
  • Take supported steps into training, employment and long-term housing.

Aboriginal men are significantly overrepresented in prisons due to complex, historic and ongoing factors. Warrigunya responds with empowerment and opportunity — helping men restore purpose, reconnect with culture, and build stronger futures for themselves, their families, and community.

By supporting Warrigunya, you help create fairness, healing, and stronger communities. Together, we are building the future.
