About this cause

Since 2014, Progressions (formerly known as Young Women in Jazz) has been committed to improving jazz diversity and recognizing female instrumentalists' talent and dedication.

Progressions caters for people of marginalised genders, female, non-binary and transgender instrumentalists who would like to learn more about jazz and improvised music, perform live at a professional Jazz Club, and work with some of Australia’s leading female jazz professionals. Part of Pathways, this program has been nominated for the national Art Music Awards for Excellence in Music Education in 2022 and 2023.

We hope to inspire our musicians and show them career paths they may not have imagined by rehearsing and performing with these outstanding artists.

To support the costs of programming these artists, as well as our commitment to performing female composers throughout the year, WAYJO is seeking your support.

WAYJO thanks our donors for their support, and looks forward to seeing you at one of our performances in 2025!
