About this cause

Wildlife Disaster Rescue and Recovery Inc. (WDRR) is a dedicated network of trained wildlife rescuers and rehabilitators serving the Darling Downs, Toowoomba, Southern Downs, and surrounding regions.

We provide 24-hour rescue and response for sick, injured, orphaned, and displaced native wildlife. Our volunteers work tirelessly to ensure animals receive immediate care, specialised rehabilitation, and, whenever possible, safe release back into their natural habitats.

During disaster events such as bushfires, floods, and severe storms, wildlife is often the forgotten victim. WDRR volunteers mobilise to assist with search and rescue, emergency care, coordination with local services, and environmental recovery efforts long after the immediate danger has passed.

Our carers specialise in a wide range of native species, including koalas, echidnas, raptors, waterbirds, and many other unique Australian animals found throughout our region. Each species requires specialised nutrition, housing, veterinary treatment, and expert rehabilitation.

100% of our rescue and rehabilitation work is powered by volunteers. There are no paid volunteers within WDRR. Our wildlife rehabilitators are entirely self-funded and generously provide their time, homes, and resources to saving native animals.

Your donation helps provide:

Specialised food, formula, and nutritional supplements tailored to species-specific needs
Rescue and rehabilitation equipment, including best-practice enclosures
Veterinary care and medical supplies such as medications and syringes
Education and training to maintain high standards of wildlife care
Carer support and essential administration that keeps our 24-hour response network operating
As a not-for-profit organisation, we rely on community support to ensure we are ready to respond when wildlife needs us most.

Together, we can rescue, rehabilitate, and restore hope for our native wildlife — during disasters and every day in between.
