Wildcare Inc. Alice Springs is committed to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of orphaned, injured and native animals in need if care.
Is a non profit organization manned completely by dedicated volunteers, under the "umbrella" of N.T.Parks & Wildlife services.
Our Association covers a very large area of Central Australia from into the Northern area of S.A., Eastern W.A.through to the Queensland border.
We man a 24/7 emergency phone and collection service for injured wildlife; taking over 1500 calls a year.
What your donation can help achieve
- Emergency food and equipment packs for outlying Communities to assist orphaned, injured wildlife.
- Milk for young joeys,( special lactose free.) $300.00 buys enough to raise one joey to release stage
- Packs for Tour coach operators, to assist in the immediate care of road kill wildlife. (Most of our Territory roads are unfenced- due to the size of the properties.)
Education
- For school children in immediate care of wildlife in need
- Community assistance in arranging, transport ,etc. of wildlife needing further care in Alice Springs.
- Training of Volunteers to care for specific wildlife.
Specific stories
- A swan ? lost in central desert. Transfer to A.S.Vet. treatment, attention for / weeks with release into ponds area of A.S. where other swans reside. (photo)
- A Wedge Tailed eagle, found injured over the W.A.Border. Flown (by Courtesy of the mail plane) into A.S. Rehabbed taught to fly again, catch his own food and successfully released back into the wild. (Photo)
- A Rock Wallaby found wandering down an busy road in Alice Springs. Successfully raised, rehabilitated and returned to a suitable habitat.
- Over 400 Red Kangaroos taken into care, with the biggest percentage being able to be released back into the wild.
