About Witness to War & Violence

Witness to War & Violence is a national telephone support service developed to provide safe, free, and confidential emotional support for people across Australia affected by distress, conflict, and difficult experiences. Whether individuals are impacted by traumatic events overseas, holding deep concerns for loved ones in conflict zones, or affected by distressing incidents here in Australia, our service provides a dedicated space to talk, be heard, and feel supported.

How We Help

• Specialised & Multilingual Support: Our helpline is staffed by qualified counsellors, social workers, clinicians, and bicultural support workers who understand the complex emotional and cultural realities that individuals carry. Support is available in multiple languages.
• A Service for Everyone: The telephone service is completely confidential and open to anyone living in Australia. There are absolutely no referral requirements, visa restrictions, or eligibility barriers.
• National Infrastructure: Supported by the national FASSTT network, we ensure Australia-wide coverage and help connect callers to long-term specialist services in their local areas when ongoing care is needed.
