WoCImpact1000: Philanthropy by Women of Colour, for Women of Colour

WoCImpact1000 is a bold movement led by Women of Colour Australia (WoCA) to reimagine philanthropy through the power of community. Our 10-year vision is to unite 1,000 Women of Colour across the country — and around the world — each giving $1,000 annually. Together, we will raise $1 million every year to power leadership, scholarships, advocacy, and the work behind the work that sustains them.

By giving today, your tax-deductible donation fuels the people, programs, and progress that cannot wait.

More than a giving circle — it’s justice

Grounded in trust, collectivism, and self-determination, WoCImpact1000 enables Women of Colour to lead, resource, and shape solutions for our own communities. Donations help fund:

  • Culturally safe leadership programs, including Australia’s only Executive Leadership Program for Women of Colour.
  • Research and advocacy, like our national Women of Colour in the Workplace Surveys, cited in Parliament and featured by the Australian Human Rights Commission.
  • The next step: a Scholarship Fund opening pathways for Women of Colour including First Nations women, students, and emerging leaders.

Your generosity ensures Women of Colour are not just seen as beneficiaries of philanthropy, but as benefactors, decision-makers, and funders of systemic change.

We began with a powerful first step

A circle of 9 Founding Donors seeded the vision in FY24–25 — Women of Colour who didn’t wait for change, but chose to build it.

Now, in FY25–26, our target is 30 Donors. We have 23 pledges confirmed, and 6 have converted their pledges into donations.

Every year, a new Donor Circle will grow our impact until we reach 1,000 Women of Colour by 2035, collectively resourcing $1 million annually for lasting transformation.

Every contribution counts

WoCImpact1000 is grounded in a clear commitment: 1,000 Women of Colour, $1,000 each, every year.

But if you’re not in a position to give at that level today, you can still support this work through a one-off or recurring donation of any amount via our Power the Work campaign. Every gift strengthens our foundations and ensures this work endures.

Our 10-Year Donor Growth Plan

We’re building WoCImpact1000 with care, intention, and community. Each Donor Circle represents a financial year’s target — starting with 30 donors in FY25–26 and growing to 1,000 by FY34–35.

Annual Donor Circle Targets:

  • FY24–25: 9 Founding Donors (donations complete)
  • FY25–26: 30 Donors (23 pledges to date and 6 have converted to donations)
  • FY26–27: 50 Donors
  • FY27–28: 75 Donors
  • FY28–29: 100 Donors
  • FY29–30: 150 Donors
  • FY30–31: 250 Donors
  • FY31–32: 375 Donors
  • FY32–33: 500 Donors
  • FY33–34: 750 Donors
  • FY34–35: 1,000 Donors

Whether you contribute for one year or journey with us across many, your support fuels a future powered by Women of Colour — resourced, recognised, and leading systemic change.

Your contribution doesn’t just fund programs — it builds power.

Together, we are changing the face of giving in Australia.

Join WoCImpact1000 and be part of something transformative.

We acknowledge the Wallumattagal clan of the Darug nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land upon which Women of Colour Australia is situated. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women with whom we stand in solidarity. We acknowledge that as settlers on this stolen Aboriginal land, we are beneficiaries of the dispossession, genocide, and ongoing colonial violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We believe that it is our collective responsibility and moral imperative to help dismantle the systemic barriers and structural inequities oppressing the original inhabitants of this land. We are also painfully aware that this land was taken forcibly, without a Treaty or reparations made. We have taken a practical step towards honouring sovereignty by paying the rent – and we invite you to do so too. This land is and always will be Aboriginal land. Sovereignty was never ceded.
