The Cairns and District Chinese Association Inc (CADCAI) has reached an historic milestone. In 2025 we will start building Queensland's first Chinese Culture and Heritage Centre on Greenslopes Street in Cairns opposite Centenary Lakes and the Chinese Friendship Gardens.
The Cairns Chinese and Cultural and Heritage Centre (CCCHC) will provide climate-controlled exhibition space showcasing the nationally- significant Cairns Lit Sung Goong Temple artefacts and other heritage objects collected in Far North Queensland and cultural enrichment activities such as performance and festivals. CADCAI engaged award-winning TPG Architects to design the new centre and manage its construction.
Estimated cost Stage 1: $2,700,000 To date CADCAI has raised $1,280,000 towards the project and is also seeking funding from the State and Federal governments to construct the Centre. CADCAI has now launched a very crucial fundraising campaign.
Grant funding will be sought for Stage 2 which includes a future teahouse, under-cover events area and Chinese landscaped gardens.
