The Big Picture Learning Design is based on research that shows that we learn best when we are personally motivated. Putting students at the centre of decisions around what, how and when they learn is the key to nurturing the next generations of engaged, independent learners.

While each student is unique with their own set of passions and capabilities, they are not alone. They are supported by a network of peers, advisory teachers, expert mentors and family.

We prepare students for opportunities beyond school with an emphasis on relevance and real-world learning. Our students combine learning in the classroom with learning through internships and courses outside school. This approach is stimulating ideas for future careers, building networks, and equipping students with skills and qualifications that will put them a step ahead upon graduation.

Since its inception in 2006, Big Picture Learning Australia (BPLA) has deliberately worked within the public education system in Australia in order to provide choice and opportunities to those students who may not otherwise experience this in their schooling.

Our purpose is to support our young people to get what they need to get where they want to go, to become who they want to be. And due to the diverse passions of our students, sometimes that involves unique and unusual costs!

Our young people and their schools don't always have the means to pursue their interests and passions as fully as they would like; a scholarship could help them to access a course, travel to an internship, buy vital tech or equipment, improve their living situation, or ease the transition to their next destination post-school. Scholarships are not limited to those in school, they can also be awarded to graduates about to embark on their next steps. 

The Public Education Fund is a national, trusted organisation that has the apparatus to administer donations on behalf of Big Picture Learning Australia. All donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible.
