Heather’s Skydive for Better Lives

In June 2027, I’m going to jump out of a plane.

Because I want to do something big enough to make people stop, listen, and hopefully help me make a difference.

Heather’s Skydive for Better Lives is raising money for three causes that support people at incredibly vulnerable points in their lives: dads who feel like they have nowhere left to turn, women fighting to build an independent future, and families whose entire world has been turned upside down by a seriously ill child.

Three very different causes, but one thing connects them all:

Everyone deserves the chance at a better life.

PBB 'Dads in Distress' is a cause particularly close to my heart. Dads can carry an enormous amount quietly — the pressure to provide, relationship breakdowns, separation from their children, financial stress and the expectation that they should just keep going.

Sometimes the person who looks like they’re coping is the person who desperately needs someone to ask if they’re okay.

And sometimes, getting that support at the right moment can be the difference between a dad believing there is no way forward and realising that there is.

Children need their dads. Families need them. Friends need them. We need to reach men before suicide ever feels like their only option.

If this fundraiser helps even one dad feel less alone, make one phone call, stay for one more day, and eventually find his way back to himself, then every second of fear before I jump will be worth it.

Dress for Success represents another kind of rebuilding.

For a woman trying to start again, independence can change everything. It can mean having her own income, being able to support her children, rebuilding confidence after hardship, and knowing that her future is finally in her own hands.

Dress for Success goes far beyond what someone wears to an interview. It helps women develop the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to enter the workforce, progress in their careers, and work towards genuine, long-term financial independence.

Sometimes a job isn’t simply a job.

It can be the beginning of getting your life back.

And then there are families experiencing something no parent should have to face, having a seriously ill or injured child.

Ronald McDonald House Charities helps keep those families together and close to the medical care their child needs. When your world has suddenly become hospital rooms, doctors, uncertainty, and waiting for answers, worrying about where you’re going to sleep or how you’re going to stay close to your child should be the last thing on your mind.

They help give families somewhere to call home when home feels very far away.

That’s why I chose these three causes.

A dad who needs someone to tell him there is still a future.

A woman trying to create one for herself.

A family desperately hoping they still have one together.

This skydive is for them.

If you can donate, share this page, or simply tell somebody about what I’m doing, you become part of it too.

No donation is too small. No share is meaningless.

I’m jumping for better lives, and I’d love for you to help me make that jump mean something.
