NTA Emergency Appeal – Earthquake in Flores

On Saturday morning 15 August, a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Flores, causing widespread destruction across a broad region — including communities supported by the Nusa Tenggara Association (NTA). At this early stage, we know that many houses, water tanks, schools, health and community facilities have been damaged or destroyed. Tragically, around 50 people have lost their lives, and many more have been injured or displaced.

NTA has people on the ground right now, assisting affected communities as best they can. They are helping coordinate local relief efforts, supporting families who have lost homes, and providing food to people stranded by road closures. Over the coming days, our teams will carry out further assessments to understand the full extent of the damage, identify priority needs, and work with government and other agencies to ensure a coordinated and effective response.

NTA has supported communities in Flores and West Timor for more than 30 years. With your help, we can continue to stand with them now — when they need us most.
