Unlock learning for all with education essentials

About this cause

Education is life-changing, opening doors to new opportunities and helping kids and adults alike grow into active, informed citizens.
We’re on a mission to give people of all ages, all across Australia, the tools they need to succeed, so everyone has a fair chance at learning and thriving.

Research shows that disparities in tertiary education access and outcomes stem from socioeconomic status or geographic location. Socioeconomic disadvantage is consistently associated with lower academic outcomes, translating into a lack of confidence and informed citizenship into adulthood.

Australian students facing lower socioeconomic disadvantage often experience material deprivation, a lack of essential items young people deem as essential in education such as a computer, money to afford classes or school activities, or a safe place to study or do homework.

Access to digital devices, internet connectivity, and digital skills is a necessity in today’s increasingly digital world. Yet, 1 in 4 Australians remain digitally excluded, disproportionately affecting vulnerable groups like people with disabilities, older Australians, people living in public housing, and people experiencing unemployment (ADII, 2023). This exclusion limits opportunities for education, employment, and social connection.

Good360 Australia is committed to bridging this gap. Through partnerships with Work Ventures and Good Things Foundation, we’re working to establish a National Device Bank that will collect, refurbish, and redistribute laptops, tablets, and smartphones donated by Australian businesses and government agencies. This initiative keeps devices in Australia, ensuring they’re used to empower digitally excluded Australians rather than being recycled, sold overseas, or sent to landfill.

Beyond devices, we’re addressing barriers like internet access and digital literacy. By collaborating with our 4,500 charity and school members, we’re connecting Australians of all ages with the tools, training, and data they need for a quality education and an equitable future in the digital age.
