Foster Care Angels provides ongoing support for children and young adults in foster care, and their carers so that no child needs to suffer trauma, discrimination and disadvantage.  Foster Care Angles Board, staff and volunteers work to provide hope and an opportunity for these children to reach their full potential.

Founded by carers, support is provided in several ways.

·        Care Packages

This is the core program of Foster Care Angels.  Care packages that are age and gender appropriate are made available to all children entering the foster care system for the first time. Backpacks full of comfort and essential items, and of course, a big soft teddy bear to cuddle.

·        Carer Conference

The 2 night Conferences focus on foster carers who are at risk of placement breakdown and offers them a childfree, fully catered weekend away with educational workshops and access to an independent counsellor.  The opportunity also enables the creation of a peer support network among those who truly understand the unique stresses that impact on foster carers.

·        A Maze In Mind Program

A 6 week program delivered either face to face or online via a secure classroom setting to empowers and educate young adults in all aspects of life skills, preparing them for their transition to adulthood. An App is currently being delivered in response to feedback from participants. One on one independent counselling is also available to participants.

·        Holiday Cabin

Free accommodation available to foster families to enable them to experience a holiday that would otherwise be cost prohibitive. The creation of bonding experiences is crucial in establishing and maintaining a healthy, long term placement.

·        Bed in a Bag

The program is needs based and provides children entering Residential Care Facilities with new bedding, manchester and towels which they are then able to take with them throughout their foster care journey.

·        University Scholarships

A $30,000 Scholarship at any University of Western Sydney campus is available for a young person embarking on a graduate degree who is living in, or had an out of home care experience in NSW.  Our aim is to increase educational outcomes for disadvantaged young adults where finances provide a barrier to tertiary education.

  • Christmas Drive

Each year, our Christmas Drive supports children and young adults living in alternative care arrangements such as hotels and motels, bringing a little bit of Christmas joy at an otherwise bleak time of year.

  • Supported Living

The harsh reality is that many foster children "transition to adulthood" on their 18th Birthday. At a time when other teenagers are celebrating, finishing their HSC, preparing for their formal and booking schoolies week, foster children face an uncertain future. This "Transition" is faced without adequate life skills or family support that ensures a pathway into isolation, and significant representation in the criminal justice system, homelessness, teen pregnancies, self harm,  substance abuse and mental health issues.  Our newest program set to launch early 2020 combines secure, long term housing with wrap around services, counselling and mentoring to fully equip and support these young adults to reach their full potential.

Foster Care Angels’ core goal is to take away the trauma as much as possible and as early as possible for children in out of home care. With the help of supporting carers and the community, we can help children with a care experience reach their full potential, and in so doing, make Australia a better place.
