One World Centre Library Appeal

We all need an understanding of the increasingly interconnected world we live in and how we can live effectively and responsibly in this world.

The One World Centre seeks to do this through its global education professional learning program for teachers in schools and student teachers in universities, and through community education activities.

Global education develops the vital skills and knowledge needed for active citizenship in a changing world. Exploring themes relating to globalisation and interdependence, social justice and human rights, identity and cultural diversity, peace building and conflict resolution, and sustainable futures, it provides opportunities for us all to participate in working towards a more just and sustainable future for all.

For more information see www.oneworldcentre.org.au To support its global education activities the Centre also houses a library of specialised global education resources - books, teaching kits, posters and audio-visual materials, which are available for loan to schools, community organisations and individuals throughout Western Australia.

Help us keep our library up to date and relevant. The work we do in schools and the community inspires people but the library resources support them as they go on to explore the many ways to participate in working towards a more just and sustainable future for all.

A donation to our library fund will
  • buy a children's picture book that will introduce them to a new country or culture
  • guide us all in becoming active and engaged global citizens
  • help teachers learn to teach about cultural stereotypes
  • buy reference books about global ecological, social, economic and political sustainability
  • help us update one of our discovery boxes full of realia from countries around the world
  • guide us in gaining a better understanding about poverty in Australia and the world
  • help us all to understand the issues around fairtrade
  • inform us about the issues surrounding global people movements
